MY EXPERIENCE OF IYM (FIRST SESSION)

Yesterday, the first session of IYM was at KILKARI RAINBOW HOUSE,KASHMERE GATE.In this session, we were supposed to teach some moral values, build their confidence, impart them knowledge about some funny facts. To do this, we were given proper schedules.Since not being professional in teaching, I was a little bit nervous. When i saw the small and sweet
children being so friendly and their overwhelming nature, I lost all my hesitations and just became a part of them.Me and other 4 volunteers along with 7 other girls sat in a group and enjoyed a lot.Firstly,We all introduced ourselves to each other. I was very happy to know that those children were so talented, some in dance, some in painting, and a lot more.Secondly,we enacted a play of "The Small Rabbit" and taught them about the moral of the story. To make the session more interactive,we asked them for the English translations of some Hindi words and I was glad to see that they knew the English translations of most of the words we asked for.The problem they had was in spelling those words. So we discussed a lot of spellings together. Thirdly,we also discussed some of the fun facts with them and also gave the related information to them.Just to gather their interest a little more,we played it in the form of"KBC".I was amazed to see that those children were giving us more information related to some of the questions we asked them. When we asked them how they knew all these facts, they replied that they watch DISCOVERY CHANNEL regularly.
It was a great experience with these children. It was not only those children but I was also gained from this IYM sessions.I learnt how to dream high along with fighting with all the problems in life.
