I had a
very good experience with YEP in Lucknow. Firstly, as there is no such society
or community there, so people don't get a chance to come forward and do
something. They wait for such events to take place so they can contribute their
bit to the world. Students there don't have a concept of working for something
beyond the various Arts like dance, music, etc. i was really keen to host this
in Lucknow. Personally I am a very soft-spoken person, so when i went out to
talk to people- the Principles, Secretary, students, acquaintances, i was very
nervous. i started with talking to the Principle of Awadh Degree Girls College
first, then the Secretary there. I gained some confidence after realising that
i wasn't doing that bad a job after all. Then we talked to the students there,
it was fun actually :). The people there enjoyed every bit of all the
activities they participated in, especially CLEANATHON, because the place that
we had selected for this event, is a very centrally located place in Lucknow.
They had never thought that they would do something like CLEANATHON that road.
It was fun! It wasn't a very hard task to manage the participants. The most
challenging part I feel, was to talk them into participating in this. Nobody
does all this in their daily routines and hence, at first they weren't very keen.
But as it gained momentum, they couldn't help but feel good about being a part
of it. It was just my first time of doing something like this, so i wasn't very
good with the managing bit, but i hope to improve and do much better the next
time! I want to commend Yasar for his patience and thank him for all the help
and assistance. He was always just a message or a call away! Its was great
working with you guys ! :) And Surbhi was a great delegate. We both enjoyed
working together. She was always very supportive and was of great help whenever
we got stuck in some situation. I hope she liked the places we visited and had
a comfortable stay :)All in all it was a great experience, i got a chance to
learn so much, which i wouldn't have been able to otherwise. I'm happy to have
joined LFT.
